There's a little discussion about what the top golf GPS devices for 2010 are. I guess there's about five or six contenders. Personally, when I want to figure out what the top sellers in any category are I check out a few of the major online retailers, especially Amazon. So, I'm basing this article on the top three sellers at Amazon for 2010.
The bestselling top GPS for 2010 for golf is the Garmin Approach G5. This is a fairly high-end model, in terms of price. It's got a large, waterproof touchscreen, which you can easily see in direct sunlight. One thing I really like about Garmin's GPS products in general is the fact that there's no annual fee. This is not true for all GPS's for golf! Also, the Garmin Approach G5 comes preloaded with US courses.
The next golf top GPS device is the GolfLogix Garmin GPS. The GolfLogix is a step below the Approach both in price and functionality, but this is not to say it's a not a great GPS for the sport. It is. It's got a very user-friendly display. It instantly calculates the distance from wherever you are to the front, middle, and back of the green. Unlike the Approach G5, it doesn't give you an actual picture of the green. Just the distances. For many golfers, however, this is enough.
On the low-end of the price spectrum is the IZZO Swami 1500. The Swami can calculate the distance to the front, middle, and back of the green. Stores up to 10 courses at a time. And, it's really easy to use. The IZZO Swami competes more with the Garmin GolfLogix than it does with the Approach G5. I think the GolfLogix Garmin Approach is probably a hotter seller, because of the Garmin name. More folks know Garmin than IZZO Swami.
Certainly, these are not the only top golf GPS devices on the market. But according to Amazon, these are the top for 2010.
